I've got your tutorial right here… well. not really. I suppose I could write a tutorial explaining how to do this effect, but when you can buy a program for $35 that does it well and the same way every time, why mess with a $700 program that will make you do all the work?

Can a tutorial be made outlining the steps and methods used to create screenshot perspective and reflection for the Lifehacker article posted by RickMacMerc on November 11, 2008?

I've looked at other tutorials on the net, but the perspective, drop shadow, and reflection are not near as natural as this image.

Thanks!

Hi MacBozo,

Yes, I saw that, and replied. Thanks for your input.

As to the problem, as I said there . . .I may have resolved it.

Seven hours ago, I opened up the G4, removed the fan housing, and then the 5" black plastic fan made by Delta. It's called Sense something or other. I can't remember the full name now. I thoroughly cleaned the fan blades, the fan housing, the circular grill behind the fan, and the surrounding area. It has been just over six hours since I put everything back together and rebooted the machine. Temperature Monitor in my menu bar initially stated that it was 85 or 87 degrees. Within an hour and a half, it shot up to 105.8 degrees, Fahrenheit, where it has remained for the past four and a half hours. The air con has been off in the room, the stand fan that was blowing inside the unit has been turned off, and the door to the unit has been closed. In short, it has been running on its own, without any outside cooling assistance for six hours, and it hasn't shut down yet. I am hoping that it will hold. If it does, then I am thinking of performing the same fan cleaning operation on my machine, as well as on my daughter's machine.

I threw in my 2¢ over at MacTECH. Check the back of the tower. Is there pretty good air flow coming out of the vent at the top rear? If not, the PS fan is dead or stuck.

Hello Everyone,

For quite some time now, one of my old G4's, (it's an early-model G4 from 2000), has been overheating. At this point, it is so bad, that within half an hour's time, the machine will get so hot that it will shut itself down.

For the time being, the only way that I have found to remedy this, is by leaving the CPU open, and having a stand fan constantly blowing on it. And BTW, this is in an air-conditioned room.

The machine is not particularly dirty inside, except for some crud on the single fan blades, so I have no idea why it would be heating up as it is. I have an almost identical G4 sitting just a few feet away from it, and it never heats up. It is also 8 years old.

Any ideas anyone?

Thanks!
